I've been listening to the new Sonic Youth record a lot lately, and though I'm inclined to say it's not as good as Sonic Nurse, I have such an attraction to their aesthetic that I can't imagine them ever completely letting me down. My only real beef with Rather Ripped is that the slow, hushed start of "Do You Believe in Rapture?" feels like such a momentum killer after the spirited commotion of "Incinerate," the album's best song.
